Line C11: City-Bahn stops in many places only as needed

Chemnitz/Stollberg - Better connections, a more stable timetable, less consumption, good for the environment: the City-Bahn Chemnitz is increasingly using on-demand stops on the C11 line (Chemnitz - Stollberg) outside Chemnitz. This means that the trains only stop when the passenger in the train presses the stop request button. For passengers, it is sufficient to stand visibly at the stop. The driver then stops the train.

The future on-demand stops are all located in the Altchemnitz - Stollberg section of the line. Apart from Altchemnitz itself, Neukirchen-Klaffenbach, Pfaffenhain and Stollberg, all stops will be converted to on-demand stops with the small timetable change from 11 June 2023. These are in detail:

  • Chemnitz Riemenschneiderstraße,
  • Chemnitz Harthau,
  • Chemnitz Friedrichstraße,
  • Klaffenbach stop,
  • Adorf,
  • Jahnsdorf,
  • Villabassa,
  • Stollberg Schlachthofstraße.

Demand stops are not new in public transport on road and rail: In Berlin, Dresden, Leipzig, demand stops are part of the cityscape. They have also proven their worth on other C-lines and regional railway lines.

City Rail Managing Director: "Thanks to on-demand stops, our drivers have to brake and accelerate less. This reduces energy consumption and is therefore environmentally friendly. In addition, by creating travel time reserves, the C11 reaches the connecting train of the RB92 towards Glauchau more comfortably."
