Capital of Culture: This is how the City-Bahn runs for the opening

  • Extension of the half-hourly service on C11, C13/C14 into the evening hours

Chemnitz - Around 80,000 visitors are expected to attend the opening of the European Capital of Culture year in Chemnitz on Saturday (18 January 2025). The majority will be travelling by public transport.

Passengers can expect delays of up to 30 minutes and occasional train cancellations. The route operator is not expected to be able to rectify the disruptions until Tuesday, 12 November 2024 in the afternoon. City-Bahn asks its passengers for their understanding.

City-Bahn Managing Director Friedbert Straube: "The City-Bahn therefore runs every half hour on important C lines on Saturdays and therefore twice as often." 29 extra lanes are used.

The central station will be closed to city trains until the evening on Saturday due to the festival.
