- Storm damage at Thalheim station paralyses signalling technology
- This results in significant delays on lines C 13 and C 14
- Work is underway to repair the damage
Chemnitz - A lightning strike at Thalheim station has caused the signalling technology there to fail. Delays are the result. It remains to be seen when the damage will be repaired.
The lightning strike apparently occurred last week. Because rail replacement services to Chemnitz were running at the time, the damage only became known again when the railway service started at the weekend. At present, trains can only enter and exit Thalheim station on the express command of the dispatcher and therefore on sight and very slowly.
The resulting delays will affect the entire timetable on lines C13 and C14. There are currently delays of 20 minutes between Thalheim and Chemnitz. Work is underway to repair the damage.
Rail replacement services (SEV) are currently running between Thalheim and Aue on line C13.
