Then become our qualifier and learn from November 2025 within 11 to 12 months

  • the safe and punctual transport of passengers,
  • Train and shunting driving with various rail vehicles,
  • Carrying out preparatory and final services as well as ensuring the operational readiness of our vehicles,
  • performing operational tasks in regular operation and in the event of a malfunction,
  • monitoring the functions of the train, including assessing the operational capability of the vehicle in the event of technical faults,
  • Ensuring adequate passenger information,
  • the support of our customer advisors when required.

We have been around since 1997 and as a municipal railway company in the heart of the "City of Modernity", we are the driving force behind the Chemnitz model and the most innovative transport provider in the region. On the rails, we combine the railway and urban tram network to form an efficient and integrated public transport system and offer people in the central Saxon conurbation a reliable, barrier-free and transfer-free transport connection to Chemnitz city centre - in the interests of the environment and for sustainable regional transport development.

To make it work with us, you need

  • Completed vocational training and at least a good secondary school leaving certificate,
  • at least 20 years of life experience,
  • physical fitness and psychological aptitude, which are checked in advance by an occupational health examination,
  • Enjoy technology, logical understanding and manual dexterity,
  • Sense of responsibility, high quality standards and service-orientated way of working
  • Stress resistance,
  • Willingness to work in alternating shifts as well as on Sundays and public holidays,
  • sound knowledge of written and spoken German.

So that you get through the test well and can start with us as a train driver,

  • the qualification takes place full-time,
  • the qualification consists of theoretical and practical lessons,
  • you will undergo additional training including an examination to become a driver (in accordance with §12 BOStrab) for our services on the Chemnitz Model tram network,
  • you will learn how to shunt, prepare and drive trains in regular operation and in the event of deviations from regular operation, mainly in passenger transport,
  • learn how to recognise and rectify vehicle faults.
