- Deutsche Bahn replaces sleepers between Chemnitz and Leipzig
- City railway line C 13 also affected
- Rail replacement services will be organised in coordination with the MRB (RE6)
Chemnitz - There will be disruptions to rail traffic on the Chemnitz Leipzig railway line from Whit Monday. The reason: Deutsche Bahn has to replace 44,000 concrete sleepers. This will also affect line C13 on the Burgstädt Chemnitz section.
From 20 May, the start of operations until the expected end of operations on 10 July 2024, rail replacement services (SEV) will run between Chemnitz and Burgstädt. The departure times and locations differ from the usual ones. Low-floor buses with ramps on board for passengers with reduced mobility will be used. This bus service is not affected by possible strikes directed against the City-Bahn Chemnitz.
Parallel to the SEV of the City-Bahn, the SEV of the Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn (MRB) for the Chemnitz Leipzig line (RE6) is running.
Both companies have coordinated their departure times and taken rail connections into account.
The SEV of the City-Bahn serves all the usual stations between Chemnitz Burgstädt. The MRB SEV runs express between the two cities. The buses are labelled accordingly as "SEV C13" and "SEV RE6".
The timetables for the C13 are available on https://www.city-bahn.de/stoerungsmeldungen/ under "SEV / Burgstädt Chemnitz Hbf Bahnhofstraße /Central stop / 20.5. - 10. 7. 2024 C13".
